Last year, the current 8th grade class planted a school garden. They sought out opportunities to learn from the school garden while providing the school with fresh produce. From the school garden, students have been learning about soil nutrients, soil types, plant health, natural pest control, beneficial insects, and harvesting. Keya Paha County Schools also received grants from the Keya Paha County Foundation and KBR Rural Round-up to help purchase new plant benches for the greenhouse. Students will also be looking into irrigation systems and purchasing tools for the coming year's growing season.
Students have been enjoying fresh cucumbers, tomatoes, watermelon, cantaloupe, zucchini, and a few strawberries from the school garden.

It just keeps happening at KPCS - students “SEEKING OPPORTUNITIES”. Senior Lucas Clay stepped up his teammate and kindness game by extending his practice run to boost and help another teammate finish their run! He could have sat and waited for the teammate to finish, but Lucas literally ran the extra mile alongside his teammate providing encouragement and company. Thank you, Lucas for seeking the opportunity to be a top notch teammate!
